Find Your Video and Copy the URL

Navigate to the video you want to download on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or any other supported platform. To copy the URL:

  • Desktop: Look at your browser's address bar at the top. Click on it, select all text (Ctrl+A or Cmd+A), then copy (Ctrl+C or Cmd+C).
  • YouTube App: Tap the "Share" button below the video, then tap "Copy Link".
  • Instagram / TikTok: Tap the three-dot (⋯) menu on the post, then select "Copy Link".
  • Facebook: Tap the three-dot menu on the post and select "Copy link".
💡 Tip: Make sure the video is publicly accessible. Private videos cannot be downloaded.

Paste the URL into FreeMake Video Downloader

Go to the FreeMake Video Downloader Downloader page. Click on the URL input field and paste your link:

  • Desktop: Click the input field and press Ctrl+V (Windows) or Cmd+V (Mac) to paste.
  • Mobile: Tap the input field, then tap and hold to get the paste option, or use the clipboard button (📋) next to the input.
  • Alternatively, use the "Paste from Clipboard" button — it automatically inserts your last copied text.

Click "Process URL" and Wait

After pasting your URL, click the blue "Process URL" button. Our system will:

  • Validate the URL format and check if the site is supported.
  • Connect to the source platform and fetch available download streams.
  • Return a list of available quality options and file formats.
💡 Tip: This usually takes 3–10 seconds. Very long videos may take up to 20 seconds. Do not close the tab while processing.

Choose Your Format and Quality

Once the results appear, you'll see a list of available formats:

  • Video tab: Shows video formats like MP4 1080p, MP4 720p, WebM, etc. Choose higher numbers for better quality (and larger file size).
  • Audio tab: Shows audio-only formats like MP3 320kbps or M4A 128kbps — ideal for music, podcasts, or voice recordings.
  • File sizes are shown where available to help you decide.
💡 Tip: For most videos, MP4 1080p is the best balance between quality and file size. Use MP4 720p for mobile devices to save storage.

Click Download and Save Your File

Click the "Download" button next to your chosen format. What happens next depends on your device:

  • Desktop (Chrome/Firefox): A download dialog will appear or the file will go directly to your Downloads folder.
  • Android: The file downloads to your Downloads folder. Check the notification bar for progress.
  • iPhone (Safari): The video may open in the browser. Press and hold the video, then tap "Download" or "Save to Files".
  • iPhone (Chrome/Firefox): These apps handle downloads better. We recommend Chrome on iOS for easiest downloading.
💡 Tip: If the download doesn't start automatically, try right-clicking the "Download" button and selecting "Save link as…"

Troubleshooting

Having trouble? Here are the most common issues and how to fix them.

This means the domain is not in our supported list. Check the Supported Sites page to confirm we support the platform. Some regional platforms may not be supported yet.
The video you're trying to download has been set to private by the owner. Only publicly accessible videos can be downloaded.
Some videos use encrypted streaming (DRM) that prevents downloading, even if they appear publicly available. Music videos and premium content often fall into this category.
Very large files (4K videos, long videos) take longer to process and transfer. Try a lower quality option, or check your internet connection.
Make sure your media player supports the format. VLC Media Player is free and plays virtually any file type. For MP4s, Windows Media Player and QuickTime work too.
This is common in Safari on iOS. Try these steps: (1) Use Chrome or Firefox instead. (2) In Safari, press and hold the Download button and choose "Download Linked File". (3) Use the Files app to find saved videos.
